Destin Daniel Cretton Says More News Is Coming

Director Destin Daniel Cretton said he remains honored to bring the world and characters created by Masashi Kishimoto into live action.

He said his excitement for the project has continued to grow as production progresses and added that the team expects to have more to share in the near future.

Naruto's Spirit Will Be at the Center of the Film

Cretton said one of the qualities he has always loved about Naruto is that he is the kind of character who might normally be pushed to the side.

Naruto can be quick-tempered, tries too hard and is often underestimated by those around him, but Cretton said he also has a remarkable heart.

Even after repeated failures and setbacks, Naruto never gives up on believing in himself or fighting for the people he cares about. Cretton said that spirit is at the center of the story the filmmakers are trying to tell.

Film Aims to Respect Kishimoto's World and Characters

Cretton said the Naruto characters are deeply important to many people around the world, including himself.

He explained that the production is keeping that in mind while working on the film and wants to carefully preserve the world Kishimoto created, the relationships between its characters and the journeys they have taken.

The goal, he said, is to bring into the film the qualities that make Naruto special.
