Neymar Becomes a Yu-Gi-Oh! Card, Fused with the Black Magician at Tokyo Game Show 2025

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba on September 25, KONAMI revealed a special collaboration between the popular trading card game Yu-Gi-Oh! and the soccer game eFootball.

During the stage event, a promotional video featuring world-renowned soccer player Neymar fused with iconic Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters was shown. Special guests Ryota Katayose from GENERATIONS and actor Riku Hagiwara were thrilled by the announcement.

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1996, Kazuki Takahashi’s manga Yu-Gi-Oh! has since expanded into a global franchise. KONAMI launched console games in 1998 and the trading card game in 1999, which continues to be beloved worldwide.

Reflecting on his childhood memories, Katayose said, “I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh! I didn’t like it when friends had an Exodia deck! Back then, we bundled our decks with rubber bands. I’d love to see those old cards again.”

In the teaser video, Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters were shown fusing with famous soccer players, followed by their transformation into actual cards. Neymar appeared fused with the legendary Black Magician, and this new form was officially unveiled as a trading card.

Hagiwara commented with excitement, “I don’t think we’ll ever see Neymar drawing a card again! That fusion sequence was incredible!” Katayose added, “It was amazing. Seeing Neymar fused into the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe felt like such a special collaboration.”

As part of the campaign on X (formerly Twitter), fans can enter for a chance to win a real Yu-Gi-Oh! card featuring Neymar fused with the Black Magician, personally autographed by the player himself. Both guests exclaimed, “We want it!” as their eyes lit up at the opportunity.
