Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is based on the manga of the same name, which has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. The story, a "post-journey fantasy," follows the aftermath of a hero party that defeated the Demon King, focusing on the mage elf Frieren as she embarks on new adventures in a world without the hero, alongside new companions.
Set in the unique timeframe of "after the Demon King is defeated," the series has captivated many readers with its poignant drama, memorable dialogue, battles involving magic and swords, and its humorous moments. The manga won the prestigious Manga Taisho 2021 award, and its popularity is reflected in the 22 million copies in circulation. The TV anime aired from September 2023 to March 2024.
