The anime's second season is currently airing, and a stage adaptation has also been announced, adding to the ever-growing popularity of "Oshi no Ko." Today (September 1), the live-action project by Amazon and Toei revealed 28 cast members in an event called "Oshi no Ko Release Party," with a few cast members announced every hour. In the first wave of announcements, the cast members who know the secret relationship between Aqua (played by Kaito Sakurai), Ruby (Nagisa Saito), and Ai (Asuka Saito) were unveiled. Kohtaro Yoshida, Kana Kurashina, and Nobuaki Kaneko's participation was revealed alongside stills from the film.
Yoshida plays Ichigo Saito, the first president of the entertainment agency "Ichigo Production." He is a shrewd manager who discovered Ai's talent and raised her into a star. He also plays a crucial role in supporting Ai during her pregnancy and childbirth.
Kurashina plays Miyako Saito, the current president of Ichigo Production and Ichigo's wife. After Ai's death, she takes care of Aqua and Ruby as a mother figure and manages them as talents in the agency.
Kaneko plays Taishi Gotanda, the director of the film "That's the Beginning," which Ai once starred in. He recognized Aqua's talent for acting as a child and scouted him into the entertainment industry. He continues to maintain a relationship with the grown-up Aqua and secretly supports him in pursuit of a certain goal.
The live-action adaptation of "Oshi no Ko" will premiere on the video streaming service "Prime Video" on November 28 at 9 PM, exclusively available to Amazon Prime members worldwide. The film, which continues the story from the drama, will be released nationwide by Toei on December 20.
