'Ranma 1/2' Opening Video Released: Many Characters Appear in Martial Arts Romantic Comedy
The creditless opening sequence of the brand-new TV anime Ranma 1/2 (premiering on October 5) has been unveiled.
The newly released video showcases anime visuals produced by MAPPA, set to the opening theme song "Iinazukyun" performed by ano.
A host of characters who also appear in the anime make an appearance, and the video gives a glimpse of the “martial arts romantic comedy” elements and the charm that the series embodies.
Ranma 1/2 follows the daily life of high school student Ranma Saotome, who turns into a girl when splashed with water, and his fiancée Akane Tendo. The story is a martial arts romantic comedy that draws in those around them. The TV anime originally aired from 1989 to 1992. Later, it was adapted into theatrical films and OVAs, and in 2011, a live-action drama starring Yui Aragaki (as Akane) was produced.
