Borderlands Movie to Premiere on Prime Video: Japanese Trailer Released
The live-action adaptation of the wildly popular game series Borderlands is set to stream exclusively for Prime members on Prime Video starting January 24, 2025. Alongside the announcement, a Japanese main visual and trailer have been unveiled, offering a glimpse into the chaotic universe fans know and love.
A Star-Studded Adaptation of a Bestselling Game
Based on the hit FPS series developed by Gearbox Software, Borderlands has sold over 87 million copies worldwide. The action-adventure comedy debuted in the U.S. in August 2023 and is now making its way to audiences globally through Prime Video.
The story takes place on the lawless planet of Pandora, where Lilith, an infamous treasure hunter, takes on a mission to find a missing girl. Joined by a motley crew of eccentric allies, her journey unfolds into a hilarious, chaotic, and action-packed quest.
Stellar Cast and Crew
Directed and written by Eli Roth, known for Thanksgiving (2023) and The Green Inferno (2013), the film features an impressive lineup of talent:
Cate Blanchett as Lilith, reuniting with Roth after The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018).
Kevin Hart as Roland, a skilled mercenary and Lilith’s ally.
Jack Black, lending his voice to Claptrap, the team’s quirky (and possibly smartest) robot.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt, and other renowned stars add depth to the ensemble.
Action-Packed Trailer and Visuals
The Japanese trailer highlights intense gunfights, enormous creatures, and the game’s iconic over-the-top humor, capturing the original’s beloved chaotic spirit. The newly revealed visual showcases Lilith alongside her ragtag team, promising fans an exhilarating ride through Pandora’s wasteland.
