Detective Conan (Case Closed) : One-eyed Flashback – New Trailer and Story Released
The 28th installment of the highly anticipated Detective Conan movie series, titled "Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback", is set to premiere on April 18, 2025. A teaser trailer and synopsis have been revealed, offering a glimpse of a gripping mystery involving Kogoro Mouri, Rei Furuya, and other key police members.
A Chilling Story in the Snowy Mountains
Set against the backdrop of Nagano’s snowy Yatsugatake mountain range, the film intertwines past and present events. The teaser begins with Conan muttering, “That day… the accident…”—setting off a chain of events tied to Nagano Prefectural Police officer Kansuke Yamato’s lost left eye. Bloodied and clutching his left eye in pain, Kansuke’s flashbacks hint at a long-buried truth. His haunting words, “What did I see that day?”, suggest that his memories hold the key to solving the case.
As the investigation unfolds, familiar faces from Nagano and Tokyo’s police forces emerge, including Kansuke’s childhood friend Takaaki Morofushi, Yui Uehara, and Metropolitan Police officers Inspector Megure, Sato, and Takagi. Rei Furuya (aka Bourbon) makes a dual appearance as a private detective and undercover operative for the Black Organization. The involvement of police forces from Nagano and Tokyo points to a larger, high-stakes mystery.
The One-Eyed Detective Takes Center Stage
Nagano Prefecture’s police detective, Kansuke Yamato, and his colleagues, Takaaki Morofushi and Yui Uehara, also feature prominently in the teaser. With Yamato clutching his scarred, blind left eye, the movie’s title hints that long-held secrets about his past may finally surface. The tagline, "I remembered...", raises questions about the memories that will come to light and how they tie into the case.
The Legacy of Detective Conan Continues
With over 30 years of serialization, Detective Conan remains a cultural phenomenon. Its 2024 film, The Black Iron Pentagram, shattered franchise records, earning an astonishing ¥157.1 billion at the box office. The success sets a high bar for One-eyed Flashback, as fans eagerly await further updates, with new information promised as soon as December 5.

Kansuke’s Flashbacks and Avalanche Scene
A pivotal memory from 10 months prior reveals Kansuke pursuing a suspect in the snowy mountains, only to be caught in an avalanche triggered by a rifle shot.
Story
In Nagano’s Mount Mihodake, Kansuke Yamato pursues a suspect when a sudden shadow distracts him. A rifle shot grazes his left eye, causing an avalanche that buries him. Miraculously surviving, Kansuke is left permanently blinded in one eye.
Ten months later, a researcher at the Nobeyama National Astronomical Observatory is attacked. Kansuke and Yui rush to the scene, but his scarred left eye begins throbbing uncontrollably as the observatory’s massive parabolic antenna stirs to life.
Meanwhile, Kogoro Mouri receives a call from a former colleague nicknamed "Wani," who is investigating the avalanche incident. Files related to the case inexplicably include Kogoro’s name. As Kogoro and Conan head to meet Wani, a gunshot suddenly echoes in the air.
