Game Announcement: Natsume’s Book of Friends Hazuki no Shirushi

The first-ever game adaptation of the beloved anime Natsume’s Book of Friends will be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam on June 5, 2025. Both physical and digital editions will be available for ¥7,480.

About the Game

Players will step into the role of Takashi Natsume, experiencing the gentle and melancholic world of Natsume’s Book of Friends. Set during a summer break, the game lets players explore freely, interact with familiar characters, and create their own summer memories:

Spend time with friends like Nishimura, Kitamoto, and Tanuma.
Help Toko-san around the house.
Assist the Dog Circle with their issues.
Complete summer homework alongside Nyanko-sensei.

The game features stunning background art by Ishigaki Productions, known for their work on the anime. In addition to iconic locations from the series, the game introduces brand-new, exclusive scenery, allowing players to explore the town and reconnect with characters from the anime.

A Journey Through Nostalgia

The game spans one month of summer, offering players the freedom to choose how to spend their time and with whom. Storylines incorporate elements from the anime’s seven seasons, enabling players to relive key moments from the series while crafting their own unique summer experience.

About Natsume’s Book of Friends

Based on the manga serialized in LaLa, Natsume’s Book of Friends follows Takashi Natsume, a boy who can see spirits, as he inherits the Book of Friends from his grandmother, Reiko. Together with his self-proclaimed bodyguard Nyanko-sensei, Natsume dedicates his days to releasing the names of spirits bound by the book, forging touching connections between humans and spirits along the way.

The series debuted in 2003 and has captivated fans for over two decades. The anime, which began airing in 2008, has grown into a rare long-running series, with seven seasons produced as of 2024.
