Life-Size Gundam Meets Futuristic Sky Ring at Expo 2025—What's the Highlight?
With the opening of Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai just around the corner, the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" is drawing attention for its awe-inspiring display—a co-starring scene between a life-size Gundam statue and the pavilion’s enormous architectural feature known as the “Grand Roof Ring.”

Located near the West Gate, the pavilion features a design inspired by the concept of a futuristic space airport. Outside stands the "RX-78F00/E Gundam," a towering statue approximately 17 meters tall, captured in a pose reaching outward toward space and the future. Despite being depicted in a kneeling stance, the Gundam's sheer size is overwhelming up close. Thanks to the pavilion’s placement right next to the outer edge of the Grand Roof Ring—which itself is around 20 meters tall—visitors are greeted by a truly striking scene where both massive structures align in grandeur.

Inside the pavilion, guests are immersed in new visual content titled GUNDAM: Next Universal Century, which brings to life the themes long explored in the Gundam series: life in space and yet-to-be-realized scientific advancements. The interior experience is divided into Phases 0 through 7, guiding visitors through an evolving futuristic vision.
In this newly envisioned "Universal Century" setting, attendees virtually board an orbital elevator bound for the space station known as "Star Jaburo." Within this immersive environment where humanity coexists with mobile suits, visitors encounter a Gundam equipped with a "Glass Feather" unit on its back, a variety of mobile suits, and even a redesigned Haro—all brought to life through cutting-edge visuals.

Adding to the experience, the rooftop of the Grand Roof Ring serves as a "Skywalk"—a circular walkway where guests can stroll freely. This allows for a close-up perspective of the life-size Gundam from nearly the same height, offering an exciting new way to appreciate the scale and impact of the exhibit.
