Ghibli Museum Short Films to be Screened at Cannes Film Festival, Goro Miyazaki to Attend for Studio Ghibli's Honorary Palme d'Or Award
At the 77th Cannes International Film Festival currently being held in France, it has already been decided that Japan's renowned animation studio, Studio Ghibli, will receive the Honorary Palme d'Or for its significant contributions to the film industry.
The award ceremony will take place on the 20th at 3:30 PM local time at the main screening venue, the Grand Théâtre Lumière. Goro Miyazaki, son of director Hayao Miyazaki, who is also a director himself and led the production of Ghibli Park, will attend the ceremony.
In conjunction with the award ceremony, four short films directed and scripted by Hayao Miyazaki will be screened: "Mei and the Kittenbus," "Yadosagashi," "Mr. Dough and the Egg Princess," and "Boro the Caterpillar." These films were created for the Saturn Theater (Dosei-Za) at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, making this an exceptional opportunity for them to be viewed overseas.
