Tougen Anki TV Anime Premieres with Episode 3 Story & Preview Images- Homare Unleashes Uncontrollable Oni Power

The long-awaited TV anime adaptation of Tougen Anki has finally begun airing. Along with its premiere, the synopsis and preview images for Episode 3 have been released.

Based on the manga by Yura Urushibara, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten), Tougen Anki has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation. Inspired by the Japanese folktale of Momotaro, this dark hero tale follows the fierce battle between descendants of demons (Oni) and those of Momotaro. Told from the Oni’s perspective, it reimagines a traditional narrative as a bold, new-generation dark fantasy.

Episode 3 Story

It's the first day at Rasetsu Academy. Shiki Ichinose and the new students must play a game of tag with Naito Mudano, under the harsh rule that failure means expulsion. Shiki, provoked by Jin Kougasaki—his teammate from Group 1—rushes into battle right from the start.

Struggling against Jin’s technique, "Blood Eclipse Release," Shiki attempts to use his own Oni powers but fails. Just as Jin moves in for the finishing blow, convinced of his victory, Homare Byoubugaura—another teammate—suddenly intervenes.

Seeing Shiki injured while protecting him shocks Homare, causing him to awaken the uncontrollable "Blood Giant." With its overwhelming power, the Blood Giant forces both Shiki and Jin onto the defensive.

Series Overview

"You carry the blood of the Oni..."

The bloodlines of Oni and Momotaro have been passed down through a select group of humans. Ages ago, the Oni, fully aware of their own violent tendencies, chose to live in seclusion. But the Momotaro attacked them, initiating an age-long conflict. Both sides established organizations—the Oni Corporation and the Momotaro Agency—and their war has raged for millennia.

One day, Shiki Ichinose learns the shocking truth about his bloodline following a surprise Momotaro attack. From that moment, he is bound by destiny, encountering the Oni dwelling within him. Thus begins a new generation of dark hero demon saga.
