Kaiju No. 8 Voice Actors Feature in Special Program Recap

8-Second Challenge ABEMA Edition

Next came a special variety segment inspired by the anime’s themes. The four voice actors teamed up to tackle three challenges from the official SNS企画 “Can You Do It in 8 Seconds? Challenge.”

The first task, the “One Answer Per Second Challenge,” required them to give eight answers within eight seconds. The first prompt was “ball sports.” Thanks to clever answers like Fairouz’s “gateball” and Uchiyama’s “water polo,” they cleared it on the first try.

The second prompt, “Prefecture capitals with different names from their prefectures,” tripped them up when Kawanishi stalled, preventing Uchiyama from answering. Frustrated, Uchiyama shouted, “I can’t get there! Pass the baton! Pass it on!” which had the studio roaring with laughter.

The second game, the “Exact 8-Second Challenge,” tasked them with stopping a timer precisely at 8 seconds. Uchiyama went first after missing his chance earlier. As he prepared, Fairouz teased, “He’s in the zone! He’s in the zone!” Unable to hold back his laughter, Uchiyama had to restart. Despite his efforts, he overshot by more than a second. Kawanishi then attempted and ended up just 0.01 seconds apart from Uchiyama, highlighting their good chemistry.

Fairouz, boasting of a “perfect strategy,” began counting in Arabic but mistakenly reached 10 seconds instead. Fukunishi eventually cleared the challenge under the weight of everyone’s expectations. Fairouz got a second chance and succeeded with her “perfect strategy” on the retry.

The final challenge was the “8-Second Drawing Relay,” where three people cooperated to complete a drawing and the fourth guessed. The first prompt was “Eiji Hasegawa.” Though Uchiyama’s drawing resembled an ancient tomb, Fairouz’s clever addition helped them guess correctly.

The second prompt, “Kaiju No. 9,” started with Fukunishi’s impressive sketch, leading to a smooth win. The unique drawings brought plenty of laughs as the segment wrapped up.

After the announcement segment, the program swiftly reached its finale.

Uchiyama reflected: “This is the kind of fun group we record Kaiju No. 8 with! As we’ve continued recording together, we’ve grown closer, and I think that made the game segment more fun.”
