Blue Lock is based on the soccer manga currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story follows protagonist Yoichi Isagi, an unknown high school forward, as he battles fierce rivals on his way to becoming the striker who will transform Japanese soccer.

The series is set around the Blue Lock project, launched by the Japan Football Union to train a striker capable of leading Japan to victory at the FIFA World Cup. In this program, 300 high school forwards from across the country compete in a brutal survival contest for a chance to remain in the project.
The manga has surpassed 50 million copies in circulation. The first television anime season aired from October 2022 to March 2023, and the second season aired from October to December 2024. The franchise was adapted into a game in 2022 and a stage play in 2023. An anime sequel is also in production, and a live action film is scheduled for release on August 7, 2026.
