Live Action The Legend of Zelda Movie Moves Release Date Up One Week to April 30, 2027
Nintendo announced on May14 that the release date for the live action The Legend of Zelda movie has been changed from May 7, 2027, to April 30, 2027. Rather than a delay, the film’s worldwide theatrical release has been moved up by one week in an unusual scheduling change.

The announcement was made through Nintendo’s official X account, where Shigeru Miyamoto stated, “This is Miyamoto. We have decided to change the worldwide theatrical release date of the live action The Legend of Zelda movie from May 7, 2027, to April 30, 2027.”
He continued, “The production team is working together to bring the film to everyone as soon as possible. With less than a year remaining until release, please wait just a little longer.”

The film is being produced jointly by Nintendo Representative Director and Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto and acclaimed producer Avi Arad, chairman of Arad Productions Inc., who has worked on numerous blockbuster films. Production is being handled by Nintendo and Arad Productions Inc., with Wes Ball serving as director.
Nintendo is financing more than 50 percent of the film’s production costs, while Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. is responsible for worldwide distribution and co financing.
Regarding the live action adaptation, Nintendo explained that by directly producing film adaptations of Nintendo IP, the company aims to create opportunities for audiences around the world to experience the entertainment worlds Nintendo has built through avenues beyond dedicated gaming platforms.
The cast includes Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.
