Jaadugar Episode 1 Story & Preview Cuts Released: The Award-Winning, Buzzworthy Manga Gets a TV Anime Adaptation

The story and preview images for Episode 1 of the TV anime Jaadugar: A Witch's Life in Mongolia (JP: 天幕のジャードゥーガル) have been revealed. This episode will air on Saturday, July 4 at 11:30 PM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 1 Story

In the year 1213, in the eastern Iranian city of Tus. A young girl named Sitara, who has lost her mother and been torn far away from her hometown, is taken in by Fatima, the kind-hearted lady of a scholar's family. At first, Sitara hates studying and tries to run away to return to her hometown. However, Muhammad, Fatima's son who aspires to become a scholar, teaches her the importance of learning, telling her, "If you become wise, no matter what kind of trouble happens, you will know what the best thing to do is."

Sitara and the others spend their days quietly yet richly accumulating knowledge. However, their peaceful daily life is suddenly shattered. The rapidly expanding Mongol Empire's army, led by the fourth prince Tolui, finally approaches the land where Sitara and her family live. Thrust into the depths of despair as a prisoner of the Mongol army, Sitara is approached by Shira, a young boy who serves as an interpreter for the Mongol military.

After losing everything to Tolui, the empire’s Fourth Prince, and being taken captive, Sitara resolves to use the only thing she has left, her intellect, to infiltrate the royal court and bring down the empire from within.

Though a flame of revenge burns within her heart, Sitara outwardly devotes herself to serving the empire. One day, she has a fateful encounter with Töregene, the sixth wife of the Third Prince, Ögedei. Haunted by a tragic past of her own, Töregene too carries a deep hatred for the empire within her heart.
Sitara and Töregene, two women who were never meant to meet. The moment they join hands, the wheels of fate begin to turn.
