Blue Box Concludes Its Five Year Serialization
Blue Box is a coming of age sports romance manga that began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021.
The story begins with Taiki Inomata, a member of the boys’ badminton team, falling in love with Chinatsu Kano, an older student on the girls’ basketball team. The two regularly find themselves alone together in the gym during morning practice.
One spring, as the students move up to the next grade, an unexpected event dramatically changes the distance between them.
The series delicately portrays its relatable characters as they devote themselves to their respective sports while carrying their own feelings. It also explores the subtle emotions people experience when they fall in love.
Blue Box attracted considerable attention from readers soon after its serialization began. It received the Global Special Prize at the 2021 Next Manga Awards and placed fourth in the Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2022.
The manga has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation. It also took part in a collaboration campaign with Asahi Soft Drinks’ Calpis brand in November 2022.
The first season of the television anime aired from October 2024 through March 2025. The second season is scheduled to air in October.
Someone Hertz Becomes Jump’s Only Full Romantic Comedy Manga
Hima-Ten! recently published its final chapter in Weekly Shonen Jump. Following the conclusion of Blue Box, Someone Hertz is now the magazine’s only remaining full romantic comedy series.
Someone Hertz is a coming of age radio romantic comedy about Mimei, a serious male high school student, and Kurage, an easygoing girl in his class. The two gradually grow closer through their shared interest in late night radio.
The manga follows their relaxed daily lives through a comfortable rhythm of jokes and witty responses between the two characters.
Someone Hertz began serialization in Issue 42 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released on September 16, 2025. It has also been nominated as one of the 100 titles competing in the 2026 Next Manga Awards.
