ONE PIECE Card Included with Jump as Shueisha Prints 500,000 Extra Copies: A Move to Curb Reselling?

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the ONE PIECE manga, a special limited bonus ONE PIECE Card featuring Monkey D. Luffy was included with the 2026 Issue 33 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released on July 13. Shueisha explained, “In light of the popularity of the ONE PIECE Card Game, we will print 500,000 more copies of this issue than usual. The total number of copies printed will not be disclosed.”

It is unusual for the publisher to announce the exact number of additional copies being printed.

The bonus card, Monkey D. Luffy P 159, can serve as an attacker during the middle stages of a match. It also has a powerful effect that allows another character to enter play when the card is knocked out. The card is particularly compatible with Starter Deck ST 31.

A special offer is also available to digital edition subscribers through Shonen Jump Plus and Zeblack. The bonus card will also be sold internationally through Premium Bandai in multiple language editions, including Japanese.

ONE PIECE Celebrates 29 Years of Serialization

ONE PIECE began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997.

The maritime adventure follows Monkey D. Luffy, a boy whose body gained the properties of rubber after he ate the Gum Gum Fruit. Luffy gathers companions and forms the Straw Hat Pirates as he sets out to become the Pirate King.

Their journey centers on the search for the legendary treasure known as the One Piece, which was left behind by the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger.

The manga has surpassed 600 million copies in worldwide circulation.

When Volume 57 was released on March 4, 2010, its initial print run of three million copies set a record for the largest first printing in Japanese publishing history at the time. The series has maintained an initial print run of three million copies for subsequent volumes.

The television anime has been airing since 1999. The 2022 animated film ONE PIECE FILM RED became a major cultural phenomenon in Japan, earning more than 20.34 billion yen at the domestic box office.

Digital Subscriber Offer Includes Premium Edition Cards

An application based offer is available exclusively to digital subscribers of Shonen Jump Plus and Zeblack.

The set contains eight ONE PIECE Cards in protective pillow packaging.

Four cards are standard editions featuring the same design as the card included with Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 33.

The remaining four are premium editions featuring enhanced decorative finishes and special specifications.

Applications will be accepted until 11:58 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Applicants must pay 1,210 yen, including domestic shipping and handling fees. Each applicant may purchase up to three sets.
