Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End 3rd Anniversary Visual Revealed, Season 3 "El Dorado Arc" Countdown Project Also Announced

To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime broadcast, animation studio Madhouse has unveiled a special 3rd-anniversary visual. Additionally, a new "Season 3: El Dorado Arc Broadcast Countdown Illustration" project has officially launched.

The newly released visual features the current adventuring party—Frieren, Fern, and Stark—celebrating the milestone. In her hands, Frieren is holding an item that fans of the series will instantly recognize: the "ridiculously massive hamburger steak," which originally appeared during Stark's birthday in Season 1, Episode 12, "A Real Hero."

Adding a touching layer to the artwork, the window behind them reflects the figures of Frieren's former companions: Hero Himmel, Priest Heiter, Warrior Eisen, and Frieren herself. It is a deeply special visual that makes it feel as though the past and present adventuring parties have crossed paths in time for just this single moment.

Coinciding with the 3rd anniversary, the anime has also officially reached the one-year mark before the highly anticipated Season 3 "El Dorado Arc" premieres in October 2027. To celebrate this milestone, the "Season 3: El Dorado Arc Broadcast Countdown Illustration" project has been set in motion.

Through this initiative, animators and staff members who work on Frieren will periodically release unique illustrations leading up to the Season 3 premiere. The very first illustration in the series, titled "1 Year Until Broadcast," was drawn by co-character designer Keisuke Kojima. It features the trio of Frieren, Fern, and Stark, with Frieren holding a grimoire containing "magic to make Season 3 air in exactly one year"—an adorable piece that will undoubtedly leave fans eager for the new season.
