Comments from the Creative Team

■Director Tomohiro Kawamura
"I am honored to create an original anime about the Shinsengumi, written by Yutaka Narui, together with such wonderful colleagues. Just as the Shinsengumi joined together under Makoto's leadership with a shared goal, our team has come together to ensure that every aspect of this project is done with the utmost sincerity. We will carefully show their passion, one step at a time. I hope you're looking forward to it."

■Scriptwriter Yutaka Narui
Hello, I'm Yutaka Narui, the scriptwriter. When Aniplex asked me to write the ultimate story about the Shinsengumi, I had never written an anime script before. Still, I immediately replied, 'I want to do it, please let me!'

I decided to bring back Jinsuke Tachikawa, a character I once wrote for my theater group, Caramel Box's Shinsengumi play. He is a kindhearted man, but he's terrible with a sword. He's also exceptionally fast on his feet. I wanted to tell the story of the Shinsengumi from the very beginning, and show what the lives of Souji Okita and the other soldiers were like.

The result is a completely new story, very different from the stage play. When I watched the first episode while it was being made, I was deeply moved to see Jinsuke and Okita come alive in animation. I'm excited to see more, and I can't wait for it to be finished.

■Composer Shigeru Kishida
I have loved Japanese anime for a long time, so I am very happy to be involved in an original Aniplex project. When I compose background music, I try to make the characters and world stand out, while the whole piece feels enveloping. I will keep working on music production so that I can create something perfect. I hope you're looking forward to it.

Anime Inherit The Wind

Introduction

In June of 1863, a soldier with no memory was brought to the headquarters of the Mibu Roshigumi in Kyoto. Souji Okita, the assistant commander of the Mibu Roshigumi, reaches out his hand and says, "Your name is Jinsuke Tachikawa."
This is the story of Jinsuke's life as a soldier after he lost his memory. As the Mibu Roshigumi (which will soon be known as the Shinsengumi) grows in presence during the chaotic Bakumatsu era, Jinsuke and his friends are swept up in the waves of change. When Jinsuke finally remembers everything, the world will change in a big way.
