The original TV animation 'Negative Positive Angler has been announced, set to broadcast and stream starting October 2024. The director is Yutaka Uemura, known for 'Saga of Tanya the Evil,' with series composition and script by Tomohiro Suzuki of 'Frieren: Beyond Journey's End,' character design and chief animation director by Hiromi Taniguchi of 'Jellyfish Restaurant,' and animation production by NUT, the studio behind the movie 'BLUE GIANT.'

As the title 'Angler' suggests, the series centers around fishing. It tells the human story of a young man who has led a passive life with weak social connections, transforming through encounters with various people and the experience of fishing.

The teaser PV, combining real footage of Tokyo Bay with animation, showcases detailed depictions of fishing and fish movements, a highlight of the series.

The voice cast includes Mutsuki Iwanaka as Tsunehiro Sasaki, the gloomy university student protagonist; Ai Fairouz as Hana Ayukawa, a genius high school angler; and Kaito Ishikawa as Takaaki Tsutsujimori, a caring character who looks after Tsunehiro.

I am honored to play the protagonist, Tsunehiro Sasaki (Hiro). He's a university student who's been given only two years to live by his doctor and is being chased by debt collectors—he's incredibly unlucky. Despite his dark and unmotivated personality, he's stubborn and a fishing novice. I resonated with him from the start, thinking, "I've never been chased by debt collectors, but this is like my past self!" So I aimed to keep my performance as natural as possible during the audition.

Though I said he's unlucky, most of his troubles, aside from the terminal diagnosis, are his own doing. Yet, he's too stubborn to admit it and blames fate, getting annoyed when others point out things he's aware of. This very human aspect of Tsunehiro is something I love.

I believe this series will resonate with fishing enthusiasts and a wide audience. The characters are portrayed with various expressions in comedic scenes, which are really cute, so I hope you pay attention to that too. Enjoy the broadcast!
