Moyoco Anno, a popular manga artist known for works such as "Hataraki Man" and "Happy Mania," updated her X account on the 3rd to provide an update on the condition of her husband, film director Hideaki Anno, who recently suffered a complex fracture of his left leg.

Moyoco Anno began by writing, "Some of you may have seen it in the news, but the director has broken his leg." She clarified, "Currently, it's described as a comminuted fracture rather than a complex fracture, and it would be classified as a comminuted fracture rather than an open fracture, which is where the bone pierces through the skin." She elaborated on the announcement from the official website of Studio Khara, the animation production company led by Hideaki Anno, which stated, "Due to a complex fracture of the left leg, he will be hospitalized for a while."

She continued, "Fortunately, the director's bone wasn't showing any active movement, but in the X-ray images, the lower part of the shinbone and the bones at the ankle joint were both severely cracked and dislocated in a zigzag pattern. It’s more accurate to say the bones are shattered rather than simply broken."

In a subsequent post, Moyoco Anno conveyed, "The director did not want to disclose the reason for his injury." She added, "So, I leave it to everyone's imagination, but please rest assured that he did not hit his head or any other parts, and there are no other injuries."
