Prominent Voice Actors, Including Ryūsei Nakao and Kōichi Yamadera, Speak Out Against Unauthorized AI Usage: "My Voice Was Sold Without Permission"
On October 15, a group of voice actors launched the “NOMORE Unauthorized AI Generation” campaign, addressing the growing issue of AI-generated voices and visuals being used without consent. As part of this awareness initiative, a video featuring voice actors like Ryūsei Nakao was released on YouTube.
"My Voice Was Sold Without My Knowledge"
In the first video, titled NOMORE Unauthorized AI Generation [Episode 0], Nakao expressed his shock, saying, “My voice was sold without my knowledge. I was surprised.” He emphasized the importance of their voices, stating, “Our voices are our tools of the trade, our lives. Please listen to how we, as voice actors, feel about being used without permission by AI.” The video also featured 26 other voice actors, including Kōichi Yamadera, all united in saying, "NOMORE Unauthorized AI."
Campaign's Objective
In the video’s description on the official YouTube channel, the campaign's purpose was explained:
"New technology will bring great benefits to humanity in the future. However, we need to consider how we use it, while understanding each other’s feelings and the cultural impact it may have. This video was created to spark that discussion."
The statement further encourages peaceful discussions, involving experts, to establish cultural guidelines for the use of such technology. It asks, “Let’s make sure that 10 or 20 years from now, we still have the foundation to create great works.”
The video series will continue to release more content, with the main footage set to debut soon.
