The second season of the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries is set to begin airing on January 10, 2025, for two consecutive cours. It will air every Friday at 11:00 PM on Nippon TV's "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" slot, broadcasting simultaneously nationwide.

The story of the second season continues as Empress Gyokuyo's pregnancy is revealed, drawing Maomao and Jinshi into more intricate mysteries. Dark clouds begin to gather within the imperial court, and an unprecedented unresolved case threatens Jinshi's life. Amid this tense atmosphere, a caravan from a foreign land arrives, along with a special envoy who makes unreasonable demands, bringing even more turmoil. The new cases Maomao and Jinshi must face eventually escalate into major incidents involving the entire nation.

In the recently released teaser PV, scenes include the foreign caravan, two mysterious women, and a figure dancing beneath the moonlight, heightening expectations for the upcoming storyline.

Set in a medieval Eastern setting, the series follows a young girl serving as a "poison taster," who solves various complex incidents in the imperial court. The original novel began serialization on the novel submission site "Shousetsuka ni Narou" in October 2011, later published by "Hero Bunko." The manga is currently being serialized in Monthly Big Gangan and Monthly Sunday GX, with collected volumes also available. The series has sold over 38 million copies in total, with the first season of the TV anime airing from October 2023 to March 2024.
