Dandadan’s Okarun Featured on Cover of anan Magazine – Exclusive Interviews with Shion Wakayama, Natsuki Hanae, and Nana Mizuki
The anime Dandadan makes its cover debut in the October 30th issue of the popular women’s magazine anan. Okarun, a central character in Dandadan, graces the cover of issue 2420, themed around “How to Protect Yourself,” in a specially illustrated transformation scene.
In this artwork, Okarun—normally a timid and awkward high school otaku—appears in his transformed state, a unique side effect from a curse placed by the yokai Turbo Granny. This transformation, darkly intense with an alluring villainous vibe, showcases his mysterious duality and makes for a captivating visual.
Alongside the cover, anan features an eight-page spread on Dandadan, delving into the world of the series with character insights and exclusive cast interviews. Shion Wakayama (Momo) and Natsuki Hanae (Okarun) share a rare conversation, while Nana Mizuki (Momo’s grandmother Seiko) reflects on voice acting and fun stories from the studio.
Based on Yukinobu Tatsu’s popular manga on Shonen Jump+, Dandadan follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spiritualists, and her occult-loving classmate Okarun as they confront supernatural mysteries in an eccentric and thrilling occult-battle story. The series has exceeded 3.2 million copies sold, and the anime adaptation began airing in October 2024.
