The Prince of Tennis (commonly known as Tenipuri) is a tennis manga that originally ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1999 to 2008. The second series, The Prince of Tennis II, has been serialized in Jump Square since 2009, following the journey of middle school tennis prodigy Ryoma Echizen as he grows alongside his teammates.

Since its first TV anime adaptation aired on TV Tokyo in October 2001, the franchise has expanded to include events and movies, building a strong fanbase. After the original broadcast ended in March 2012, The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup returned to TV in 2022, continuing the story from the 2014 OVA series The Prince of Tennis II OVA vs Genius10.

In the U-17 World Cup series, the setting shifts from regional and national tournaments to international competition, with Japan facing off against powerhouse teams from around the world.
