When will Hunter x Hunter resume…? Summary of HxH Author Togashi-sensei's Posts on X (formerly Twitter): Is the Series Resuming September?
Since his post on March 1st, Togashi-sensei has been consistently sharing daily updates on the Hunter x Hunter manga and past illustrations on X (formerly Twitter) to the delight of fans. He has reported steady progress on the inking, suggesting that an announcement on the resumption of the series could come at any time. When will Hunter x Hunter resume?
The release date for the latest volume, Volume 38, of the manga series has been set for September 4th, making the anticipation for the return of the series even greater.
Yoshihiro Togashi reports on the progress of "H×H" manuscripts (images from official X).
However, the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department explained in the December 26, 2022, issue of Weekly Shonen Jump that "after consulting with Togashi-sensei and considering his health, we have decided not to continue the weekly serialization." This hints at the possibility that the series may not return to Jump.

Regardless, there is no doubt that fans will be able to read the continuation of Hunter x Hunter.
The Japan Anime News editorial team has compiled all the past posts. Since some of the illustrations posted might be unfamiliar to Togashi fans outside Japan, additional information is provided for reference.

It seems that Togashi-sensei has completed the manuscript for a color illustration in preparation for the resumption of the serialization. Recently, Togashi-sensei mentioned on X that he experiences back pain when drawing color illustrations and added a playful comment: "My back has indeed worsened."

It's been a while since I've posted something other than about the manuscript.
This post says, "I hurt my lower back while sitting on the toilet. Still working on the color illustrations. I'll work on the rough drafts while lying down."
I'm worried about Togashi-sensei's condition, but I'm also excited about the upcoming manga release, so it's a mix of emotions."

This week, there were no illustrations shared, but a post was made showing progress on the manuscript. The day’s post included a concerning comment: “My back isn't in good shape.” We’re worried about you, Togashi-sensei!

This is an illustration of Koenma, Botan, Yusuke, and Keiko, drawn for the cover of the combined 3-4 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in 1991. At that time, Jump was publishing 6 million copies weekly, reflecting its immense popularity.
This is the cover illustration for volume 8 of Yu Yu Hakusho. It shows Yusuke carrying a kanabo on his shoulder, with Ox-Head and Horse-Face behind him, appearing to follow his lead. It gives the impression that Yusuke has defeated the demons and is now controlling them.

This is Botan, a character from Yu Yu Hakusho, depicted on the cover of Jump issue 51 in 1990. The Botan drawn on the right side is believed to be drawn by the current Togashi-sensei.

This is the illustration used on the results page of the Hunter x Hunter popularity poll. It was featured in chapter 56. At that time, the results were Killua in first place, Kurapika in second, Gon in third, Hisoka in fourth, and Leorio in fifth.

This is Jean Louis Bradley, an original character from the novel version. It doesn’t seem to be an illustration from the book. Could it be a promotional illustration used somewhere? If anyone knows, please let me know.

From the January 2013 issue of Shonen Jump, the third one to appear is Killua. What’s with the realistic eye drawn below Killua? Among Japanese fans, it’s speculated that it might be Yui Kobayashi, a former member of the Japanese idol group Keyakizaka46. Since Togashi-sensei has publicly declared himself a fan of the group, this speculation seems credible.

Following Leorio from the previous day, here’s Gon’s illustration from the cover of the January 2013 issue. The one drawn below is Roboco, a character from a current series in Shonen Jump. And is that the adorable back view of Pompompurin?
— 冨樫義博 (@Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp) July 15, 2024
This is an illustration of Leorio drawn for the cover of Weekly Shonen Jump issue 1 in 2013. In the top right corner, it seems to depict Pompompurin, a popular character from Sanrio. As for the person in the top left... who could that be? It's amazing how just by looking at the lines of the eyes, eyebrows, and hair, you can tell it's drawn in Togashi-sensei's realistic style.
