[Obituary] My Hero Academia Officially Mourns Voice Actor Takahiro Fujiwara: “Thank You Once Again for Bringing Kurogiri to Life Since Season 1”

Voice actor Takahiro Fujiwara, best known for voicing Kurogiri in My Hero Academia, has died at the age of 43. Following the announcement, the official My Hero Academia X account shared a tribute message honoring his work in the anime series.



Fujiwara was born on July 15 in Hokkaido, Japan. In addition to his role as Kurogiri in My Hero Academia, he was also known for dubbing Crawford in CSI, as well as voicing Dorry in ONE PIECE, Eikichi Nebuya in Kuroko’s Basketball, and Guan Chang in Kingdom.


My Hero Academia Pays Tribute to Takahiro Fujiwara

The official My Hero Academia account posted a memorial message alongside an image, stating:

“Takahiro Fujiwara, who played Kurogiri in the anime My Hero Academia, passed away on May 14, 2026. We would like to once again express our gratitude for his portrayal of Kurogiri, who has appeared since Season 1, and sincerely pray for his peaceful rest.”


Statement From His Agency

Fujiwara’s talent agency also released an official statement regarding his passing:

“Our affiliated actor Takahiro Fujiwara passed away on May 14 at the age of 43.
We sincerely thank everyone for the kindness and support shown to him during his lifetime.
In accordance with the wishes of his family, the funeral was held privately with close relatives only.
We kindly ask for your understanding.”
