Live-Action "Oshi no Ko" Cast Announcement: Yuki Sumi Played by Naenano, Shotaro Hiiragi and Hiromu Kuroda Also Cast
Amazon and Toei's live-action adaptation project of "Oshi no Ko" has revealed three new cast members who will play participants in the reality dating show "My Love with a Star Begins Now" (Japanese:Imagachi), which features Aqua (Kaito Sakurai), Akane Kurokawa (Mizuki Kayashima), and MEM-cho (Ano).
Naenano has been cast as fashion model Yuki Sumi. She gained attention as a powerful influencer through her activities on social media and has been actively working in variety shows, dramas, and more. Last year, she made her debut as an artist with the song "Uano Sora," produced by Yojiro Noda. She also appeared in the drama "Tokyo Tower" (TV Asahi) broadcast in April of this year, marking her as a promising actress.
Shotaro Hiiragi will play dancer Nobuyuki Kumano. He made his stage debut in 2021 with "The Prince of Tennis Musical" 4th Season Seigaku vs. Fudomine (as Tetsu Ishida). The following year, he made his drama debut in the Super Sentai series "Avataro Sentai Donbrothers" (as Inu Brother/Tsubasa Inuzuka), and has since appeared in other notable productions.
Hiromu Kuroda, who was an exclusive model for the fashion magazine "Popteen," will portray band member Kengo Morimoto. He has expanded his activities to include appearances in shows such as "Who is a Wolf" (AbemaTV), as well as in dramas and films.
The live-action "Oshi no Ko" drama series will be exclusively streamed worldwide on Amazon Prime Video for Prime members starting at 9:00 PM on November 28, followed by a nationwide theatrical release of the sequel film by Toei on December 20.
What is "Oshi no Ko"?
The live-action adaptation is based on the manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, which has been serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) since 2020. As of July 2024, the cumulative circulation of the manga has exceeded 18 million copies. The story features a fantastical setting where the protagonist is reincarnated as the child of a legendary idol, Ai, and it delves unflinchingly into the complex world of the entertainment industry with suspenseful and shocking elements that have captivated audiences across generations.
