First serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1984, Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama is a manga that has dominated the top ranks for over a decade and remains one of Japan's most iconic works. With over 260 million copies sold worldwide, this record-breaking series has continued to captivate fans through various media forms, including TV anime, films, and video games, maintaining its global popularity even after the original manga's conclusion.

In 2013, the Dragon Ball movie series returned after 17 years, sparking a string of box-office hits. Then in 2015, Dragon Ball Super, based on an original concept by Toriyama, began airing.

In 2022, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero was released, topping Japan’s weekend box office and debuting at number one in the U.S. as well. Now, in October 2024, marking the 40th anniversary of the series' launch, a new chapter in Dragon Ball history will begin with the highly anticipated Dragon Ball DAIMA!

Synopsis

This series is a completely new anime, written by Akira Toriyama himself, featuring an entirely new episode. Toriyama was heavily involved in the production, including the original story, character design, and more, creating numerous settings such as vehicles, monsters, and background characters. The story follows Goku and his friends, who have been shrunk due to a certain conspiracy, as they set out on an adventure into a mysterious and unknown world to solve the issue.
