The TV anime "Akuyaku Reijō Tensei Oji-san" is set to air on MBS and TBS networks starting January 2025. The teaser PV and cast information have been released, revealing that Kazuhiko Inoue will voice Kenzaburo Tondenbayashi, and M・A・O will voice Grace Auvergne. The animation is being produced by Asia-Do.

This series is a heartwarming comedy that combines an older man, isekai reincarnation, and the trope of a villainess. The story begins when Kenzaburo Tondenbayashi, a 52-year-old earnest civil servant, gets into a traffic accident and is reincarnated into the world of the otome game "Magical Academy: Love & Beast." As Grace Auvergne, the villainess who disrupts the protagonist's love life, Kenzo decides to fully embrace his role as the villainess. However, his parental attitude and down-to-earth behavior, coupled with his ability to elegantly transform his mundane comments into sophisticated ones (Elegant Cheat), greatly boost his reputation. Moreover, he unintentionally sets off romance flags with the handsome male characters in the game.

It's so innovative! I laughed just hearing the setup. An office worker gets reincarnated into... Kudos to the original creator Michirou Ueyama for his genius! Personally, I find the "Elegant Cheat" conversion from Kenzo to Grace fascinating. It amazes me every time. (Laughs)

Q2. What are your impressions of Kenzo and your enthusiasm for playing the role?
I'm incredibly motivated. I want to bring out the pure and straightforward nature of this character. However, when I think about it, he's much younger than me. So, rather than focusing on the "old man" aspect, I aim to play him sincerely. (Laughs)

I felt that it's a wonderful piece filled with important lessons about human relationships amidst the comedy. The mismatched combination of the "villainess" from an otome game and an "old man" reincarnated into another world is amusing, and watching how Kenzo's professional skills positively influence those around him, along with his frequent parental instincts, warmed my heart.

Q2. What are your impressions of Grace and your enthusiasm for playing the role?
Thanks to Kenzo's personality, Grace is portrayed as a very charming lady. Even though she tries to be a villainess, she ends up increasing her likability! I will perform with a focus on the comical aspects and the elegant and noble atmosphere of the "Elegant Cheat," as well as the contrast with the originally high-handed villainess Grace.
