"Blue Exorcist" (commonly known as Ao Exorcist) follows the story of the protagonist, Rin Okumura, who bears the fate of being the son of Satan, and his struggle to become an exorcist alongside his twin brother Yukio and their friends. The manga, serialized in Jump SQ. since 2009, has over 25 million copies in circulation. The TV anime adaptation began airing in 2011. The new anime series, "Blue Exorcist Beyond the Snow Arc," will start airing on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 12:30 a.m. on TOKYO MX and other networks.

Fall 2024 Anime List

■Synopsis

The human world, Assiah (the material world), and the demon world, Gehenna (the void), are two dimensions that normally cannot interfere with each other.
However, demons have been able to possess various substances, allowing them to influence the material world.
But among humans, there were those who could exorcise these demons—the Exorcists.

■Characters

Rin Okumura
Voice - Nobuhiko Okamoto
A boy born as the son of Satan, carrying both human and demon blood. Though poor at studying and rough around the edges, he is straightforward and kind-hearted. Determined to avenge his foster father, Shiro Fujimoto, who died protecting him from Satan, Rin aims to become an exorcist. He trains as an exwire at the True Cross Academy, fighting with the sword Goumaken that seals his demonic heart and wielding the blue flames inherited from Satan.

Yukio Okumura
Voice - Jun Fukuyama
Rin’s twin brother. Serious and calm, Yukio is a genius exorcist who became the youngest to earn the title. He also serves as an instructor at True Cross Academy, teaching demon pharmacology. While he carries a strong sense of duty from his promise to protect Rin, he secretly admires his brother for being his opposite, and harbors complex feelings. He hides the strange phenomenon happening in his left eye, which started during a battle with exorcist Saburota Todo.

Shiemi Moriyama
Voice - Kana Hanazawa
The daughter of a store that sells exorcist supplies. Shy and introverted, she joined True Cross Academy to change herself. She possesses extensive knowledge of plants and has talent as a tamer, summoning her familiar Nii-chan, a Greenman sprite. After passing the mid-term exam, she joins Rin and the others as their classmate in high school.

Ryuuji Suguro
Voice - Kazuya Nakai
The son of a distinguished temple in Kyoto and heir to the Myoda sect. After the temple’s decline following the "Blue Night," Ryuuji aspires to become an exorcist to restore it. Despite his tough appearance, he is diligent and deeply respects his duties as the head of the Myoda sect. He reconciled with his father, Tatsuma, after learning his true intentions during the fight against the Impure King.

Renzo Shima
Voice - Koji Yusa
The fifth son of the Shima family, a line of high priests within the Myoda sect. He possesses Yamantaka as his familiar, the deity worshipped by the Shima family. A disciple of Ryuuji’s father, Tatsuma, he is childhood friends with Ryuuji and Konekomaru. He is carefree and sly, and serves as a double agent, leaking information to both the True Cross Order and the Illuminati.

Konekomaru Miwa
Voice - Yuki Kaji
A disciple of Tatsuma and the current head of the Myoda sect’s Miwa family. He has accompanied Ryuuji and Renzo since childhood. After losing his family during the "Blue Night," he feels indebted to the temple that took him in. Konekomaru is gentle, calm, and regarded by Ryuuji as a great strategist.

Izumo Kamiki
Voice - Eri Kitamura
A candidate with a lineage of shrine maidens. Although she often speaks harshly and has a strong-willed demeanor, she is serious and cares for her friends. She has a long-standing conflict with the Illuminati, which was resolved after the incident in Shimane. She has talent as a tamer, controlling two white foxes, Miketsu and Uke. She aims to pass the exorcist qualification exam on her first try.

Shura Kirigakure
Voice - Rina Satou
An upper first-class exorcist dispatched from the True Cross Order’s Vatican headquarters to Japan. She is a disciple of Shiro Fujimoto, the foster father of the Okumura brothers, and claims to be 18 years old. Though laid-back and rough around the edges, she teaches Rin swordsmanship and cares deeply for Yukio. She is also known for being a heavy drinker.

Mephisto Pheles
Voice - Hiroshi Kamiya
Head of the True Cross Order’s Japan branch, principal of True Cross Academy, and dean of True Cross Academy’s Exorcist Cram School. He claims to be a friend of Shiro Fujimoto and guides Rin towards becoming an exorcist. He subjects Rin to various trials to shape him into a weapon against Satan, though his true motives remain a mystery.
