Based on the manga of the same name, serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits from September 2020 to April 2022, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth is set in 15th-century Europe. During an era when heretical ideas were punishable by death, the story follows individuals who risked their beliefs and lives to prove the heliocentric theory in a world where geocentrism was the accepted truth. The protagonist, a prodigy named Rafal, is expected to study theology, the most important subject of the time, as he prepares to skip grades and enter university. However, one day, a mysterious man appears before Rafal, revealing his research on a certain "truth" at the heart of heretical thought.
The anime is set to premiere on October 5, 2024, airing at 11:45 PM JST (10:45 AM EDT), with a global release on Netflix to follow.

The setting is a fictional country in 15th-century Europe.
Rafal, a child prodigy, has been granted early admission to university, where he declares his intent to major in theology, the most prestigious subject of the time. However, his deep passion for astronomy, a subject he has long been dedicated to, remains strong.
One day, Rafal meets a mysterious scholar named Hubert, who had been imprisoned and tortured for his involvement in heretical studies. Hubert had been researching a revolutionary "hypothesis" about the cosmos that defied the established beliefs of the time.
